Every time a natural disaster strikes, authorities rush to put up as many canopy tents as they can lay their hands on. Quite recently, Haiti was devastated by an earthquake and Chile as well as Mexico also suffered similar fates. These manmade disasters cause real havoc and one of the problems is that such calamities lead to people having no shelter from the elements.
Once a disaster strikes, it leaves in its wake people that have no roof over their heads and so will be left to the mercy of the rains, winds and snow as well as other elements. In such times, you need to make use of a great number of proper canopy tents in which people can find temporary shelter.
When Haiti was flattened by an earthquake, the government in Haiti had to fill an entire soccer field with not one canopy but thousands of them. There was chaos among Haitians that got into fights and even fought with machetes in order to be the lucky few that could live inside a canopy.
The President of Haiti had to request the rich nations around the world to send his country upward of 200,000 canopy tents and he even went as far as saying that he himself would sleep in one. Other Haitians such as Fenela Jacobs, aged 39 also lives in one such tent that measures four by four meters. This tent was provided by Islamic Relief Worldwide which is an organization based in Britain.
This particular group offered Jacob two such canopy which were supposed to hold twenty one survivors. However, she actually managed to fit all these twenty one people into a single such tent on account of the fact that she was threatened that her tent would be burnt down if she did not part with the other one.
