Toyota continues to innovate and produce fuel-efficient and environment-friendly vehicles. In 2003, it released the electric powered RAV4 EV. However, production was stopped because the RAV4 EV turned out to be a car you had to dispose when its batteries run out.
RAV4 EV proved to be too costly to maintain - it was cheaper to buy a new RAV4 EV than have its battery replaced. Hoever, although the RAV4 EV was disappointing in terms of design, it has been the foundation of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system which made possible the success of the next generation Prius.
New RAV4 Hybrid
RAV4 users are now expecting that Toyota will soon offer a new and totally remodeled RAV4 hybrid. Consumers are expecting the RAV4 Hybrid to be just like the standard RAV4 - chic enough for some formal appointments but also rugged enough for serious outdoor fun.
A RAV4 equipped with Toyota's hybrid technology will produce a compact SUV powered by either engine or electricity or both - resulting in fuel savings and less harmful emissions.
Toyota was the first company to offer hybrid vehicles to the market and their Prius model is unsurpassed up to the present. RAV4 enthusiasts are hoping that Toyota will soon offer a RAV4 hybrid that can alternately use fossil fuel and electricity efficiently for off road and on road driving.
