Autos: Automotive Salvaging in Tennessee

(Mon Jan 18th, 2010, by Katro Marketing)

Many may ask what exactly what is automotive salvaging and to put it simply it is the taking out of parts from unused vehicles and use them in other vehicles. This is basically a type of recycling. When the vehicles are recovered they are stored in a special are until they are needed. Since recently they have where they motor vehicles are stored in neat stacks and are coded in a special database as soon as they are received. This allows the company the ability to find an item or a vehicle with just the click of a button.

They begin by locating motor vehicles that are being sold by the owners or are being sold by the insurance companies. The insurance companies sell these vehicles that have been in accidents and no longer fit to be driven but they can receive a sum for it if sold to the salvage yards. They have trained mechanics who inspect the car and decide what parts they are able to salvage. They usually begin with the simple parts like the mirrors and the bumpers and then move unto the engines and the transmissions. The rest of the vehicle is either sold for scrap metal or if it is done there it’s transferred to another room for this. The reusable parts are then taken to another room where they are placed on display. This is then coded into that database. The same parts are grouped together or depending on the vehicle that it is used for. These parts are not only sold to the general public but also to the manufacturers who buy them and sell them back to the customers at a much higher price. That’s why buying from someone who does automotive salvaging is the better and cheaper way to go.
